Bricks & Mortimer is a London/Surrey based soft furnishings and Interior Design company. We specialise in creating bespoke handmade curtains, blinds and cushions. Whether you need a simple Roman Blind or help with a tricky bay window, we can assist with every step of the process.

Claire set up Bricks & Mortimer in January 2018 to combine her expertise in fabulous customer service and passion for fabrics & beautiful interiors, to private clients in and around London and the surrounding areas.
Company founder Claire Mortimer-Givens worked for 8 years in the super yacht industry, bobbing around at sea on some of the world’s most glamorous boats. She was immersed in stunning interiors and idyllic scenery.
Eventually her sea legs became jaded and she decided to head home to England to retrain as an interior designer - qualifying with distinction from prestigious KLC School of Design in London.
After several years working for an established design house, she set-up on her own launching Bricks & Mortimer - offering expertise in designing and creating beautiful handmade curtains, blinds and cushions, as well as upholstery and a complete interior design service.
Curtains & Blinds
Lover of fabrics and texture, Claire is never happier when working on a new project. We have a hands-on approach right from the start and pride ourselves on offering personalised services. During the initial meeting (either in person or over the phone) we discuss design, colours, fabrics, the overall look that you want to be achieved, and we pay close attention to existing pieces that any new soft furnishings must coordinate with.
We then take all the necessary measurements to draw up a quote and after taking the brief, we send a sample pack with a variety of fabrics direct to your home for you to select your favourite. Once a fabric is chosen and quote approved, we then organise a check measure (if necessary) and manage every step of the process including installation, fitting and dressing.

We can then arrange for your curtains/blinds to be made up and sent directly to you for home for installation (you can see our online guide here). We have track fitters who will travel to any UK destination or you may choose to find a local fitter in your area, the choice is yours.
Upholstery, Headboards & Other Soft Furnishings
Claire works closely with several talented upholsterers who can help breath a new lease of life into a much loved chair, replace the loose covers on your sofa, recover dining chairs, make bespoke headboard or even commission furniture from scratch.
We also make up handmade cushions. These beautiful and unique cushions are made to order and are designed to suit your specific taste and style.
We love working with our customers to choose additional fabrics to complement their bespoke curtains and blinds. We strongly believe it is these finishing touches that bring a scheme together and help create a beautifully finished home.
We also offer a full interior design service and can help create and design a single room, or an entire house. Planning furniture layouts, lighting, styling and lots more.
We are happy to visit our more local clients in person (typically within an hour’s drive of our office in Kingston). For clients further afield, digital photographs, Skype, email and the good old telephone mean we can still offer a personal service wherever you are in the country or even abroad.
